Family Training, Support, and Reimbursement
The best decisions in life are made when you have the best and most up to date information. Since our inception, Advocates has been providing information, support with service access, medical advocacy and education to families who have loved ones with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We continue to partner with expert presenters to offer free trainings through our Family Support Services grant.
Family Training
Advocates partners with expert presenters to offer free trainings through our Family Support Services grant. We offer trainings on a variety of topics that are of interest to our community of families, such as Educational Advocacy, Sensory Strategies, Benefits and SSI, Guardianship, Trusts, Transition Planning, Sexuality, Communication Skills and Behavioral Supports.
Family Reimbursement
The Family Reimbursement program provides financial relief for costs above and beyond the typical costs associated with parenting, to families who care for a child with OPWDD eligibility. This program offers reimbursement to parents/guardians to hire a trusted person to provide intermittent caregiver relief. In addition, families can receive reimbursement for other goods and services such as recreational activities, adaptive lessons and classes, home modifications, specialized adaptive equipment, etc.
